Park Campus Academy are involved in an exciting project funded in the first round of grants from the Youth Endowment Fund.
Becoming a Man 2019/20
The UK-based Becoming a Man project hopes to replicate the success of the original programme which started in Chicago in 2001, and has now launched in Boston, Los Angeles and Seattle.
Funded in the first round of grants from the Youth Endowment Fund, Park Campus Academy are working in partnership with Mental Health Foundation, London Nautical School, Saint Gabriel’s College, Black Thrive, Colourful Minds, Youth Guidance: Becoming a Man (BAM).
The original USA project has been highly effective in addressing the sort of impulsive, automatic responses that can lead to violence. The USA programme was a key inspiration for President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative.
Work starts in January 2020 to shape London's very own version of the project.
