Rockbourne Park aka RP@GG

Introduction

Rockbourne Park has been set up to support KS1 and 2 pupils educated in Lewisham who have been
excluded or who are at risk of exclusion. We are based at Grinling Gibbons Primary School (Clyde
Street, SE8 5LW). We have capacity for two classes –which are taught in mixed age groups: Rainbow
Class (KS1 and lower KS2) and Marble (Lower KS2 and Upper KS2). Most of our pupils are with us for
short term placements and are reintegrated back into their mainstream schools. This happens on a
staggered and carefully monitored basis. Some of our learners are with us for a longer period of
time before they move onto new mainstream schools or a permanent specialist provision. We work
very closely with Lewisham SEN and the Outreach Inclusion Service in order to ensure that any
transition is well supported.

The school day

We open at 8.45 and close at 3.15. We start each day with a sit-down breakfast which gives our
pupils a good start to the day and also gives them the opportunity to practice their social skills as
they interact with their peers. We follow the national curriculum and lessons are similar to what
they would receive in a mainstream school. We have a strong focus on PSHE and personal
development as we aim to develop the whole child through positive experiences and developing
tolerance and acceptance of those around them, as well as supporting them to be able to
understand how they are feeling and manage their own emotions. All pupils are provided with a hot
school meal.

Admissions

Referrals are made via the Lewisham FAP which meets regularly across the academic year. Schools
who want to refer pupils to Rockbourne Park for an intervention placement need to do so by
following the Lewisham FAP procedures.

Preparing our pupils to move back to a permanent school is our goal.
