Evolve Academy uses Read Write Inc to teach our early readers to read. Read Write Inc teaches the phonemes (sounds), the corresponding graphemes (what the sounds look like, for example, a, b, oo, igh) , how to decode (sound out and blend sounds to read words) and how to encode (how to sound out in order to spell words).
Read Write Inc is a very structured phonics programme and children needing this support will also take a book home to read which is linked to what they have been taught in the specific phonics lesson.
